About Amy

Amy SpiegelIt is oddly difficult to boil myself down to a few paragraphs. Not that I am that complicated but rather how does one go about defining oneself?

By vocation?

I am a stay-at-home mom of four and an adoring wife of one. I am currently a home educator, Lord help us all. I love to cook and get my kicks matching socks while watching Masterpiece Classics. I hate bringing in the groceries and always miss the cobwebs in the corner. I have always loved words and have recently discovered that you can get paid to play with them.

By location?

I am a transplanted Tennessee girl living in the midst of the Midwest. I desperately miss my rolling hills and hazy mountains but I have come to appreciate the beauty of a flatland sunset. I refuse to participate in any activity which involves snow pants but will be waiting with hot chocolate when you are done playing in all that white stuff.

By hobbies?

I love to read, mostly fiction, mostly old. Jane Austen is secretly my best friend, she just doesn’t know it yet. I will argue about anything but especially films and politics. I frequently drag my family along hiking trails and bike paths. I am afraid of my sewing machine but make a mean friendship bracelet.

By calling?

In the end, I guess this is the one that should define me. I am called by God, paid for by Christ, led by the Spirit. I don’t always listen and often have to retrace my steps, but I am His, signed, sealed, delivered.
